“GOSPEL MUSIC ASSOCIATION (GMA)  SPOTLIGHT COMPETITION  Artist Evaluation & Review from Industry Professionals     ARTIST/BAND NAME:  Greg & Wa’Lisa ARTISTRY: (individual style, performance) Very strong performances, really good CD, great songs and very strong sense of originality. Greg & Wa’Lisa has obviously developed the gifts and callings upon their lives and the fruit seems to be consistent with their stated desires. MUSICIANSHIP: (pitch, intonation, phrasing, technique) Very strong songs, good recordings, good arrangements, etc. Vocally, the individual leads seem stronger and more confident than the duet parts at times but, duos are hard to do anyway. Again, both singers are strong, but I would love to hear them do more duo vocal arrangements to make the sound more viable. COMMERCIAL APPEAL: There is a lot to work with here. The commercial appeal is stronger at this time within the realms of CCM (retail and radio) If no changes are to be made, then a strong career possibility exists in the church  marketplace, and online where many records and lots of merchandise can be made available to the audience. Also, additional outlets can be explored, including a recording arrangement with a company that can market the Act and build brand equity beyond the touring market alone. OVERALL CONCEPT: Great packaging for the CD and promo packet and the photo is good. A few years ago, a husband & wife duo would be highly problematic as a marketable commodity, but the industry has changed significantly, so the financial and logistical realities make a husband/wife duo a perfect combination and the most efficient. This is even more reason to focus on the church and youth group circuit, where the regulations of mass-marketing don’t dictate the rules as much. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Every pastor has pastor friends, some in the area, others farther away. If you want to make a full-time vocation of your ministry, you should take advantage of the relationships you already have to obtain further opportunities. Every church you minister in has other contacts and relationships that can further open doors for you if your ministry bears fruit there.  GMA - #2-a”
